Prof Andrew Oduor

The Department of Physics and Materials Science at Maseno University is as old as the University. The Department is situated at the Siriba Campus and has been at the forefront of current research in Physics and Materials Science. The Department attracts a large number of students registered for different degree programmes for which physics is core at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The core of the department has been, and continues to be, ability at problem solving and finding original and imaginative solutions in experimental and theoretical physics. The purpose of the department is to promote world-leading experimental and theoretical physics in all its diversity. At the same time, the department encourages applied and collaborative research with our colleagues in other departments, universities and industry. Most of our research and teaching has been driven by the desire to understand physics at its most basic level touching on topics such as the formation of the universe, new types of fundamental interactions and symmetries in particle and quantum physics, strongly-correlated electron systems, nanoscience, material science, physics of new materials and polymers, new and renewable energy, biophysics and medical physics.  We offer the following: undergraduate (Bachelor of Science in Physics with IT) and postgraduate (Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy in Physics) programmes:
