MASTER OF SCIENCE IN APPLIED ENTOMOLOGY

About the course

Master of Science in Applied Entomology Programme is designed to give the students specialized understanding and opportunity to explore deeper into the different aspects of entomology and its application. Insects play a major role in the pre- and post-harvest crop losses and grain losses in storage. Besides, they are actively involved in the transmission of both human and livestock diseases. Therefore, to improve food security, studies in special aspects of Insect Science are required for better understanding and subsequent use in Pest Control research. The Department of Zoology seeks to provide Postgraduate training in this important area of Applied Entomology.

Admission requirements 

The candidates must satisfy the minimum admission requirements as laid down in the Maseno University School of Graduate Studies Common Regulations for Masters Degree programme.

Holders of a minimum qualification of a second class honours (lower division) degree of Maseno University or accredited university, recognized by Maseno University Senate. 

Programme duration

The duration of the M.Sc. degree-programme shall, normally, be two academic years.

Programme structure

The Masters Degree programme in Molecular Microbiology and Biotechnology shall normally consist of coursework, examination and thesis/project, normally extending over a period of two academic years distributed over four semesters of full time/part-time attendance provided that part-time attendance shall not exceed a period of four calendar years from the date of registration.
