Dr. Nkatha Gacheri Muriira holds a PhD degree in Botany and currently employed by Maseno University- Kenya as a lecturer in the department of Botany. She is the chairlady of curriculum review committee in the Botany department, Maseno University where she is tasked with steer heading review of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in Botany department. She has great interest in mentorship of young students into Science and thus is currently involved in supervising undergraduate student project and postgraduate thesis. She is a member of African women in biosciences professional body. She has published papers in International peer reviewed Journals on use genomics to develop molecular markers and the use of molecular markers in solving taxonomic issues, genetic diversity and epigenetic diversity, which is important is biodiversity conservation. She has also attended and presented in conferences and workshops. Her passion is in use of molecular tools in taxonomy, conservation and restoration of biodiversity
